Balance Your Diet to Balance Your Body & Mind
Do you know what good nutrition is? Really good nutrition? Do you know that if it doesn't grow you shouldn't eat it because it isn't actually food? Do you know what the signs of poor nutrition are? Do you know how much fresh filtered water you should be consuming every day to avoid your cells becoming chronically dehydrated?
The vast majority of people, if answered honestly, would answer no to these questions, and that's OK because for most of us we're never taught it. My school home economics class taught me how to make mac & cheese, apple crumble and various fruit pies. Handy if I plan to go back to the fifties but not so much for showing me how a balanced diet, full of good healthy live foods can not only heal my entire body but can keep me there, in a state of blissful health & wellness, energized, full of vitality, happy and stress free - yes, bad diet contributes to our stress levels.
When the food we eat is not nourishing us, when our physical and mental health is not where we'd like it to be, our bodies respond with issues such as leaky gut, IBS, depression, anxiety, immune and endocrine system imbalances and so much more. Do you even know what the signs of malnourishment are, has anyone ever told you what to look out for? Diet, what we eat, is one of the most vitally important things we can do for our health, and yet it's overlooked by every system we enter as we grow from infant to young adult responsible for our own eating, our own health & wellness.
A few signs of inadequate nutrition:
- Unexplained fatigue
- Brittle and dry hair
- Ridged or spoon-shaped nails
- Mouth problems
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Apathy, irritability & mood fluctuations
- Lack of motivation, lethargy & malaise
- Lack of appetite
I had all of these and so much more and yet not one Doctor asked me about my diet. That is not to say it is the Doctor's fault, as I later found out they are not trained in the effects of what we put in our bodies.
